The Things That Happen to Me

Well, this past Saturday was a fun day. One of my sisters, my three kids, and myself headed out for a fun filled day. Our first stop was to see our high school band perform at marching contest. Lots of reminiscing went on while we anticipated the PCB's performance. Some of our conversations included: "I remember when it took our band FOREVER to get down the hill!" "I remember when we stretched from the 10 yard line all the way to the other 10 yard line!" "Where are the balloons?" yada, yada, yada. The band performed, we enjoyed their performance.

We then went to Home Depot to let my sister spend some $$$$$$ on some new doors for her house.

Our next stop was Chuck E. Cheese. My sister hadn't been there in many, many years. I suspect if she had been there recently that she would have objected when I suggested that eating place! Just kidding! She didn't mind it at all. We all had fun being a kid again! Our smallest monkey in our bunch decided to go down one of the slides standing UP! So, the whole time we were there, she had this huge red mark across her forehead from her experiment of going down the slide standing up! This red mark blended in really well with the blue/blackish knot/bruise that was already on her forehead from a couple of days ago when she TUMBLED down our wooden stairway at home!

After the kids had released lots of their stored energy at Chuck E. Cheese we went back to the band contest to watch Midwestern State perform (oh man, they were AWESOME!), and to hear the results.

Then it was on to more shopping! We had fun at the mall. We ran into a friend and a couple of her kids. It was nice to see them! Although we had fun visiting with her, I think the manager of The Children's Place was ready to kick my 3 kids out of the store!! As if we hadn't caused enough trouble in that store, as I'm checking out at this store, Eryn decides she needs out of the stroller. So, Aunt Bri removes her from the stroller and places her near her siblings. Somehow after that, we manage to turn the stroller completely over. So as I'm bending down to pick up this stroller, the contents of my purse and wallet spill! If you have ever seen my wallet, you would understand how messy this made their store!! I had receipts from 10 years ago in my wallet along with coupons that expired many, many months ago! It was AWFUL. There was CRAP everywhere! Where did all of those receipts come from????? As we were leaving The Children's Place I know that I heard a huge sigh of relief from all of the workers in that store!

Hubby came to WFalls later in the afternoon. He ended up taking the three kids home with him and my sister and I accomplished more in those 3 hours than we had all day long! I even got in some Santa shopping for the kids! Yea!

As we were leaving Target, I felt this horrible pain in my ear. This pain continued to worsen.....it was so bad that I turned down a trip to Hobby Lobby without children.

We quickly finished up what we had to do, and came home.

Sunday morning, I woke up with a HORRIBLE ear infection. I tried to get up and take a bath and get ready for church.....but as soon as I started the bath water, I headed straight back to bed. My ear HURT, HURT, HURT. There aren't many times that I 'skip' church, but this was one of those times. I sent my husband and the kids to my mom's to eat lunch, and I stayed home in bed with a heating pad on my ear. Sunday was unpleasant. Not being able to get treated for an ear infection on the weekend isn't fun at all. Despite taking motrin and tylenol the pain wasn't fun at all. I stayed in bed almost all of the day with a heating pad on my ear/neck.

I just knew that I would wake up on Monday morning healed! WRONG. Same pain, but now I only had half of my hearing ability. If I tugged on my infected ear, I was able to ear perfectly. I managed to get ready and get us all out the door on time and go to work. So, I see my principal as soon as I get to work. Tugging method in force, I asked if I could leave to go to the dr. later in the morning.

So, I managed to teach 4 classes of music with 1/2 of my hearing ability. There were times when I performed the ear tugging so that I could make sure I was singing somewhere close to the key of the song! The funniest part was when I was teaching Kindergarten a new Halloween song. This song had motions. They were getting the hang of this new song. We were singing, dancing, doing motions, etc. I glanced over at one of my students....he has added a new motion to this song.....EAR TUGGING!!!!!! I'm serious! I just busted out laughing b/c he was being a perfect student. He was imitating exactly what I was doing!!!

So, off to the dr. I was diagnosed with SWIMMERS EAR. Yes, you read that right. Do not ask me where I got SWIMMERS EAR because I haven't been swimming since the middle of July! And no, it's not from the shower because I take baths. So, leave it up to me to get SWIMMERS EAR in the middle of October! Now I have to take drops 4 times a day for 2 straight weeks. As of now, I have had 3 rounds of drops and I'm not feeling any sense of relief. I have high hopes that I will wake up tomorrow morning HEALED! If I'm not healed, I will try to be a little more cautious of the Ear Tugging when I'm teaching motions to a song!
